Experiment 1: 500mw green laser pointer can burn match

We tested three laser pointers,  they are 5mw green laser pointer, 50mw green laser pointer, 500mw green laser pointer. And we found out whether they can burn a match.

It’s a close test, the laser beam is a serious hazard to human eyes. We need to wear the safety glasses.

We use 5mw green laser beam aim at the match head, after 1 minute, the match has no any reaction. Then we use 50mw green laser pointer do same test, and we have got same result, the match has no any reaction.

In the end we use 500mw green laser beam aim at the match head, in 8 centimeters, less than 3 seconds, we saw the white smoke from the match head, immediately the match burn out.

Experiment 2: High power laser pointer can detonate balloon

Put the balloon on the table, we use 5mw laser bean aim at the balloon, after 2 minutes, the balloon has no reaction. We use 50mw laser pointer do the same test, and we get the same result, the balloon doesn’t have any reaction.

Then we use 500mw green laser beam aim at the balloon, less than 3 seconds, the balloon detonated.

We use 500mw green laser beam aim at the cotton swab in 9 centimeters, after 10 seconds, we saw the black smoke from the cotton swab, it be burned.

Warning:  Never let the children pay the laser pointer

The laser pointer themselves are completely safe. If wrongly used. There is a big hidden trouble. Especial the high out put laser pointer.
